Zoom…to…Boom! 64 join our first virtual Members Forum!

During these challenging industry times, Venues of Excellence have been working hard to support our member venues and we were delighted to have 64 members on our first Members Forum on Wednesday 6th May, when we had two great presentations from industry partners: Venue Directory and PA Life.

The two hour forum shared new ideas, shared best practice and discussed collaborative approaches to keep the consortium and our member venues at the forefront of meeting and event buyers in their decision on where to place their events in the future.

After the event, we received great comments from our member venues about the forum, with Martin Garside, Head of Conferencing and Space at SAID Business School, University of Oxford commenting:

“Just a quick note to say thank you to Ivor, Mandy and the team for the Members Forum that was arranged today.

Unfortunately I could only join for 30 minutes but 3 of the team joined and have already been sharing ideas, lessons learnt and positive feedback about the session.

Whilst clearly different to a “normal” Members Meeting and the usual challenges around being virtual, I thought the values of VOE and the benefits of being a member really stood out.

Whilst so much has changed for the venue teams in terms of their working lives, it is great that they feel supported by being part of VOE. We certainly value being part of the organisation, more so than ever, and I just hope that enough members agree to enable the organisation to continue.

One of my team who has not had much previous involvement with VOE commented “VOE has been so supportive of all members, they’re doing a great job”, which seems a great concluding comment!”

The team at Venues of Excellence have also introduced since March weekly Afternoon Tea and a Slice of Cake Webinars with key industry contacts, which enables all the remote working teams within the consortium to have a virtual catch up to network with industry colleagues.
