Warwick Conferences helps local sports clubs celebrate charitable achievements
Warwick Conferences has helped celebrate the charitable achievements of six local sports clubs, after it hosted a special awards event for the Coventry City of Sport Challenge.
Taking place for the first time, the Coventry City of Sport Challenge was launched in 2019 to raise funds and increase engagement in sporting activities for local children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The event, which was organised by a combination of the City of Sport, Free Radio’s Cash for Kids charity, Coventry City Council, CV Life and CV Live Engage, saw six local sports clubs challenged to raise funds by hosting a number of fundraising events throughout the year.
To celebrate the achievements of the year-round challenge, the six clubs, which raised more than £35,000 across a number of fundraising events across the year, were invited to a special awards event. Hosted at Warwick Conferences’ The Slate, the flexibility and openness of the space helped the organisers create a unique event to celebrate the achievements of the sports clubs.
Warwick Conferences was also able to link with the University of Warwick to organise mini games and competitions at the multi-million pound Sport Hub, which is located on the same campus.
John Stratton, Cash for Kids Regional Charity Manager – Midlands, said: “For such a special awards event we wanted to celebrate at a venue that had a unique feel to it while still being easy to travel to. The Slate at Warwick Conferences provided the perfect venue thanks to its wonderful facilities, free parking space and expansive view of the lake.
“The team at Warwick Conferences were amazing with helping us during the planning stages of this event, ensuring it ran smoothly on the day. They also helped us build a partnership with Warwick Sport, which added another dimension to the event.”
Gail Tomlinson-Short, Business Development Manager at Warwick Conferences, added: “The achievements of everyone that has been involved with the Coventry City of Sport Challenge have been fantastic and we were thrilled to host the awards ceremony. It’s wonderful to be involved in this inspiring local challenge and organise a memorable experience for the clubs, who all worked hard to achieve their fundraising targets.”
