Venues of Excellence surpasses 2020 growth target 12 months early

  • National sales and marketing consortium has surpassed its 2020 target a year ahead of plan, following another year of rapid growth
  • A trio of new accreditations has taken the organisation’s member count to 52 across the UK
  • The organisation will mark its success at The Meetings Show in London, alongside a selection of its newest members

National consortium, Venues of Excellence, has surpassed its 2020 growth target 12 months ahead of schedule.

The organisation, which is the UK’s largest sales and marketing consortium of specialist conference, meeting and training venues, has hit its 2020 target of having 50 accredited venues under its name, a year earlier than planned.

The latest wave of venues to join the consortium – taking Venues of Excellence’s portfolio to 52 sites – are Phyllis Court in Henley-on-Thames, Rothamsted Manor in Hertfordshire and the Elite Athlete Centre, operated by Imago Venues at the University of Loughborough.


Mandy Jennings, executive director at Venues of Excellence, said: “We are thrilled to have reached our 2020 target a year ahead of plan.

“The last 12 months have seen our membership figures increase rapidly, to include a more diverse mix of venues across the UK.

“We are now proud to have awarded accreditation to 52 venues, from Scotland to the South of England, representing more than 4,000 bedrooms and 1,000 meeting rooms in total.”


The organisation is set to mark the announcement at one of the industry’s most prominent events, The Meetings Show.

Mandy added: “The Meetings Show is the perfect event for us to celebrate this milestone, as it’s where we started our journey as the new-look Venues of Excellence with our major rebrand, back in 2017 – and we’ve had a 100% increase in venue numbers since then.

“The event is a highlight in our calendar, giving us the chance to showcase our growing portfolio of accredited venues and demonstrate the work we are doing to drive up standards of excellence within the UK’s meetings and events industry.”

David Vaughton, who has been Chairman of Venues of Excellence since 2017, added “It’s wonderful to see that so many venues across the country are keen to get involved with our organisation and, through our accreditation, make a commitment to quality, too.”

Venues of Excellence awards membership to high quality conference, meetings and training venues throughout the UK.

In return, members can access a range of services including sales and marketing support, discounted access to specialist industry training from the Learning and Development Academy, 12 member events, an annual conference and promotion at industry exhibitions.
