Missenden Abbey announces charity partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity
As the preparations ramp up for the Summer Fair on Sunday 16th July at Missenden Abbey, London Road, Great Missenden, the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has been announced as the fund-raising partner for the event.
Missenden Abbey is owned by Bucks New University and now in its fourth year, this event which runs from 11am until 4pm, organised by the Abbey engages with the local community to support businesses and crafts, and combining this with an afternoon of entertainment from local organisations and associations.
This year, our Traditional Summer Fair will have many of the British classics; a cake bake off, vegetable growing competition, cream teas, Pimm’s stall and a host of activities for all the family. Our craft stalls will offer some unique and handcrafted gifts with over 50 stalls located in the grounds and the Abbey.
General Manager, Eva Neupauer-Jones commented: “Our Summer Fair is a key event in our social calendar and we welcome the community into Missenden Abbey to share in this great British tradition. We are always keen to support a local charity’s fundraising efforts, and look forward to working with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity this year.” Talking about the partnership with Missenden Abbey, Jane Miles, CEO for the charity said: “We are absolutely delighted to be involved and to benefit from this years’ Summer Fair and Craft Market. Being part of such an event in Great Missenden the home of Roald Dahl is rather special for us as this is also where it began 25 years ago. Funds raised will be used to help create more Roald Dahl Specialist Children’s Nurses around the country as well as supporting our family grants programme designed to help families struggling with the cost of looking after a sick child. We believe every child has the right to a marvellous lift no matter how ill they are or long their life may be.”
